Statewide Support for New Americans Statewide Conference
April 21 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Saturday, April 21 in Macon, GA
WHO: Members of the Ga4Dreamers network (social justice groups, non-profits and
houses of worship coordinating on DACA) are reaching out to all organizations and
groups interested in making a positive impact in the areas of service provision, capacity
building, and policy changes. The focus is all GA immigrants and New Americans:
documented, undocumented, and refugees.
WHAT: A discussion and planning session focused on better coordination of our efforts
at a strategic level, to help all of us do what we do better.
WHERE: Mercer University School of Law
WHEN: Saturday 04/21 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Lunch will be provided.
WHY: Over the past year, the environment for Georgia’s immigrants and refugees has
become increasingly challenging:
- Immigrant detention and deportation expands
- Legislation for DACA recipients fails
- Refugees are no longer welcomed
- Deteriorating dialogue across multiple sectors
In spite of this, Georgia has the potential to lead the nation in welcoming immigrants,
and to positively shift the conversation across the Deep South.
Seating is limited, and we will be trying to arrange carpools from Atlanta to make this
as cost-effective as possible for everyone. PRSVP to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Seating is limited!! If you know of anyone else should be invited, please also reach
out to them as well!
